Takapu Exhibition
A solo exhibition held at Wall Gallery in Ponsonby during April 2008.
“These photographs are stunning, larger than life, and perfectly represent the freedom we envy when we really watch gannets fly. Photographer Paul Kettel’s images are printed on watercolour paper so have a softness more like a painting, with a smudgy matt finish they are presented nearly a metre wide. The gannets soar in eight different images and look like they have been caught at the top of a Don Binney painting. Paul’s gannets are almost surreal with no reference points just colour surrounding them, but his admiration for them is very real – beautiful birds, supreme divers, Muriwai magicians.”
