Print Quality
I have always found it difficult to represent the quality of my prints online, you just cannot see the final quality in typical web browsers.
In an effort to help with this, I present a full-resolution version of the lighthouse at Cape Palliser using technology from Zoomify. Although you still do not get a feel for the colour depth and the tactile feel of the print paper or canvas, you get an idea of the detail that is rendered within the print.
The viewer below will allow you to zoom in and pan around the photograph so you can see just how much detail is present in my prints. When hanging on the wall, they invite the viewer to lose themselves completely in the image. When browsing this image, be aware that the bit you’re looking at is downloaded on demand, so it might appear fuzzy at first. Depending on how fast your Internet connection is it will sharpen right away or after a few moments.
Cape Palliser
Use the controls at the bottom of the image to pan, zoom in/out and explore Cape Palliser.
Located on the south east corner of the North Island, Palliser Bay is a remote and wild place exposed to the fierce winds of the Cook Straight. The rugged coastline has plenty of opportunities to view the New Zealand Fur Seal resting on the rocky points. At the end of the road is Cape Palliser and the iconic lighthouse. The lighthouse is reached via a step climb up a wooden 250 step staircase. On a calm day the vantage offers stunning panoramic views across to the South Island.
This image is comprised of 8 individual images shot in the vertical orientation that have been blended together in the digital darkroom. This gives an incredibly large file which is rich in detail that will produce stunning prints well over 1.5m wide.
